Monday In Boulder

Went to Whole Foods tonight for their weekly Monday Sampling.

Shay covered it.
For content’s sake, I covered Shay covering it.

Here he is, looking especially Asian.

Getting that low angle.

Getting that high angle.

Getting that close up.

Good shootin’ out there, partner.

Anyhow, big news regarding our three week cleanse. Read here on Brian’s blog.

Hell’s Belles Rocks The Fox

An all-chick ACDC cover band, the Hell’s Belles (Get it? It’s funny), is rocking and rolling through Boulder this weekend.

Went to the show last night with Packman, Kitty-Cat and Brian.

And I must say, they are quite talented.

They’re set to rock-hard again tonight @ the Fox; I suggest you be there.

The crowd is predominantly older, and lesbian; i.e. great scene.

33.jpg

Brian loves the Hell’s Belles.

43.jpg

Packman and Kitty have been dreaming of this moment for months.

14.jpg

Twas the hardest I’d ever seen girls rock, ever.

Boulder Overrun by Produce Monsters!

A horde of produce monsters invaded Boulder today. Chaos ensued as the colossal creatures made their way down the hillside towards town. Beastly bananas, appalling avocados, outrageous oranges, angry apples, powerful potatoes, ruthless rutabagas, terrible tomatoes, pernicious peppers, and many other abhorrent beings stormed the city.

I managed to snap a few photos on my cell phone.

32.jpg

At the sight of this giant, Caitlin exclaims, “am I going bananas?!”

13.jpg

Chase and Colin take refuge on their garage rooftop. The

avocado in the background is hungry for human flesh.

42.jpg

Shay and Jess were about to make birdies, but this monstrous

apple ran them off.

23.jpg

Tyler could win the Tour de France if this nightmarish

orange chased him the whole way.

These are four of ten images that I produced for another project in Photography 2. The theme for this assignment was “fiction as narrative.”

The monsters are made of various fruits/veggies; their facial features are drawings on construction paper. The Boulder scenes are shot with a Holga; the blurriness and square frame give the images a cell-phone-picture-like quality. In the heat of the moment, I think many people would be snapping away with their mobile devices… so that explains that!

On a side note, great win tonight, Bruins!

Today is Monday, November 9, 2009.

Twas a pleasant Monday here in Boulder. Submitted a final video project, played some NHL 08′, stopped in at the Apple store and had a nice family dinner.

Settling in for a busy week ahead; school is quite demanding as of late.

31.jpg

I never pass up the opportunity to leave a little message

behind at the Apple store for all to admire. Come to think

of it, that’s actually not so “little,” that’s one big poop!

41.jpg

I bought some “fruit leathers” at the store because these

don’t count as candy, and thereby do not violate the terms

of the cleanse.

22.jpg

It’s a smiley face! Did you notice the price tag on those

fruit leathers?

12.jpg

It’s another smiley! Shay doesn’t agree, but I say useĀ

your imagination.

Three Week Cleanse

In the aftermath of Willis’s 21st birthday/Halloween, Thacher, Brian and myself decided it was time for change.

Thus, we embarked on a three week cleansing period. The terms: no alcohol, no candy, no soda and no Mcdonald’s.

As incentive we’ve placed $1000 on the line. Should any of us fail to complete the challenge, $500 must be awarded to the other group members.

Should we all succeed… well, we’ll probably wonder why on Earth we ever started.

Anyhow, we’re a week into the cleansing, and I feel fresh. Turns out, rejecting peer pressure isn’t all that bad. And plus, our lemon-water at the bar totally passes for an alcoholic beverage; we blend right in.

No need for the booze, party is an attitude.

Starting up a cleanse of his own today was Peter; his first drink order: milk, raspberry lemonade and O’douls all at once.

11.jpg

These mix well… sort of.

21.jpg

Lemon-water, or gin and tonic!?
