Weather and Atmosphere

This semester I’m taking my second class in weather and atmosphere; the subject has become a great interest of mine. For the next two weeks, our homework is to keep a weather-log; we are to record observations about the weather twice daily. Additionally, we must keep a cloud chart describing the types of clouds that pass above Boulder during the day.

I’m very excited about this project because I think clouds rule. I’m going to make an effort to shoot pictures of weather as much as I can. Maybe one day, I’ll be a storm chaser.

Also, this weather-logging has inspired me to begin a new photo project:

I’m going to shoot two photos of the Flatirons each day. I’ll take one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Over time I will have compiled a massive collection of pictures. I’ll be able to look back and see what the weather was like (and how the weather changed) on any given day in Boulder. It’s going to rule.

I’ve included some pictures of clouds I took on August 24th; this weather system produced tornadoes that touched down near Denver, and also in Parker, CO. I also included my picture of the Flatirons from earlier this morning.

Wallydoo’s Upset Super Heads

Colorado’s hottest intramural hockey team, The Wallydoo’s, upset the Super Heads 5-3 this evening at the University of Colorado Recreation Center. The big win rounds out the Wallydoo’s regular season; they finished with a record of 4-0. Heading to the playoffs next week, the Wallydoo’s hope to continue their winning ways. The Wallydoo’s (formerly Rik’s Rebels) were the 2007 intramural champions at CU Boulder; their devoted fans expressed this evening that they’re “confident [their] team will win again this season.” We’ll keep you updated as the Wallydoo’s continue their quest for gold.

Hiking in Boulder

This weekend I spent some time exploring the Flatirons; I love these mountains.

An EXTREMEly Good Solution

With the economy in the pits and gas prices one the rise, I’ve come up with an EXTREMEly cost effective solution. Fuel up with Mountain Dew! It’ll keep your pocket thick and it’ll increase your “extremeness” by as much as 98%. As a result, you’ll catch the attention of all the fine ladies on the road.

Boulder Blackout

I don’t like football very much, but I think the games are very exciting. This past Thursday Colorado matched up against West Virginia for the annual “Boulder Blackout” game. I shot some pics’ and then retreated to the very back row, way up high. It was pretty fun to look down on the masses.

Dear Neighbor,

Dear Neighbor,

I just wanted to say that it was not very nice of you to call the police on me the other day. I was taking a nap when my roommate Shay walked in to inform me that two Boulder Police officers were on the front porch looking for me.

While frantically getting some clothes on, I wondered what on earth I could have gotten myself into. Nervously, I went out to greet them.

“Mr. Lampert, Henrik Lampert?”

“Yes”

“Mr. Lampert, where are you dumping your trash?”

My trash!? What a relief. I wasn’t under arrest for any one of the vast possibilities buzzing in my head.

I informed them that we have four trash cans behind the house; we dump our trash there. They then questioned me as to whether or not I “may have recently dumped some trash in the dumpster across the street from our house.” This, apparently, is a big “no-no.” I’m sure you already are aware of this, however, seeing as you reported the offense.

I answered, “no, I’ve put trash in there before, but not recently.”

The officers informed me that there were “boxes that had been dumped there with my name on them. One of the neighbors had called to complain.”

Turns out, Brian, one of my roommates, had thrown away a great big pile of boxes we had lying around from our move-in. I explained the situation, apologized, and the cops were gone… no biggy.

We went to investigate the dumpster across the street, and we found that you had thrown all of our boxes back into our lawn! This was also not a very nice thing to do.

It’s sad to think that somewhere across the street, there is a man who could make the 50 ft. trek across the street to “re-dump” our trash in our lawn, but couldn’t have made the same walk to simply bang on our door to confront us about his problem. We’re just college kids, we don’t bite.

I just want you to know that from now on, I’m going to put all the stinkiest trash I can muster into your dumpster. I’ll be sure it doesn’t have my name on this this time too.

Signed,

Your Neighbor.
