This morning, six of my friends and I said to ourselves, “let’s go to the Lazy Dog for buffalo wings today.” We couldn’t have been more excited when we finally arrived; were seated on the roof deck. The sun was shining and the mist machines kept us cool and comfortable.
Things took a turn for the worst when we were informed that the Sprite had run out. This seemingly inconsequential event marked the beginning of the “worst lunch so far this year.” We were soon told that the potato skins that Shay so strongly desired had also run out. The kitchen, your waitress informed us, had been “hit hard yesterday.”
Our frustration peaked when the wing orders arrived. The first problem was that we received “combo platters” complete with wings and drum-sticks. The drum-sticks outnumbered the wings on each order 2:1, and we do not fancy drum sticks.
I was shocked once again when I bit into my first wing and found that I hadn’t been served buffalo wings at all! I had been served the Island Fire with a side of buffalo sauce. It is not in my nature to cause a fuss at the table, so I continued eating in dismay.
Everyone at the table was also very displeased. It seemed that the sauces had been applied much too heavily; our combo wings/drum-sticks were soaking in an oily, foul mess.
I am sorry that the service was so mediocre this afternoon. Next time we crave some tasty wings we will dine elsewhere.
School Week 1 has passed! To celebrate, we threw a pool party today at the new house. Many other students gathered down the hill from our house at an apartment complex; they too were having a pool party. It seems, pool parties are the hot new thing here in Boulder this Fall.
Myself, Michael Clarke, Willis Brown, Brian Schroy, Shay Williams and Tyler are busy moving in to our new house. Interior decorating is rather exciting; I think we could all pursue this as a potential line of work in years to come… we’re very good at it. I’ll post some pics when it’s all done.
We are without internet until Friday the 29th. On that day, Feliciano, our Comcast technician will be stopping by to get things going for us. When I first heard his name, I expected a hunk of a Latino to walk in the door… turns out he’s not.
So, one week from now, when the hustle and bustle of School Week 1 has passed, I will be back to the blog.
Just west of Denver, nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains lays Red Rocks. Since 1947, this breathtaking venue has attracted the world’s best performers to its stage.
Red Rocks is a geologically formed, open-air amphitheater. On each side of the arena lie two towering monoliths (Ship Rock and Creation Rock). Sound resonates magically within the enclosure; the acoustics are unparalleled.
The setting is humbling. As the music booms concert-goers marvel at the majestic creation of Mother Nature. The massive rock formations are awe-inspiring.
On clear nights a panoramic view of Denver and the surrounding suburbs ads to the ambiance. The scene is entrancing; the nighttime lights dance in the distance.
For those of you already familiar with Red Rocks, perhaps you may find it interesting that Red Rocks Amphitheater was once considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
So when you’re planning your next visit to Colorado, see if you can’t fit a show into your plans… it might just be the highlight of your trip.
