Cool for a Day

Turns out, when you go snowboarding you enter a realm of coolness not achievable by skiers. I’ve skied ninety some odd days this winter and not once have I felt as cool/hip as I did yesterday when Shay Williams and I boarded up a storm at Arapahoe Basin. Although our abilities were sub-par, something about our fresh/hot look seemed to elevate us into a category of “cool” equatable to the Jnco Jeans with Airwalk shoes look, circa 1999. Although I’m happier on a pair of skis, I’ll admit, it feels pretty good to be that cool.

Group shot. Sweet grabs. Slightly out of our element. Shay gets high. You can't tell, but I'm actually carving a stellar turn right here.

Mimicking Nature with Brian Schroy

Earlier today, I ventured up to the Flatirons Mountain with some friends planning to go for a little hike. While driving up to the trail head we spotted some very large boulders and decided that we’d scratch our plans and spend some time climbing around on this natural playground. One of our crew and avid outdoorsman, Brian Schroy, moved about with such grace and beauty that he practically became one with his surroundings. It inspired me to shoot some photos.

Brian, just another rock on top of the pile. Mimic those curves, baby. Go with the flow. Atlas doesn't have sh*t on Brian. Laying out.
One with nature. A prickly pine. Lazy like the rolling plains. Cactus man. Reach for the sky.
One with nature. Feeling like Flatirons. Brian, or just another rock? Sweet like a flower. Brian was so in touch with nature that he momentarily turned into a lizard.

Shooting While Driving

Sometimes when I’m driving, I like to shoot photos. I hear that it’s a really safe thing to do. Below are some recent ones.

Ski Time in the Springtime II

This morning, Michael Olenick, Colby West, Shay Williams and I headed to Breckenridge for closing day. It was sunny, but the wind was blowing hard and we decided to pack things up early. Our drive to the mountain was not in vain however, we did manage to pull off a glorious group photo.

Shay and I drove back to Boulder together and as we passed the Arapahoe Basin ski area we made a rather sharp and spontaneous turn into the parking lot and decided to make some turns. With a half hour remaining before the lifts closed, we set out to capture some sweet photos. After two runs, we were extremely pleased and hit the road, much more content with our day.

Make sure to smile. How adorable. On the way up A-Basin. It's important to pick your line through the moguls before you descend. Good effort, Shay.
Looking good, Shay. Tip Stall. Oh Yah! Grip It and Rip It. Tail Grab!
Yee Haw! Woo Hoo! Spready! Slash!

Ski Time in the Springtime

It’s closing weekend for most resorts here in Colorado. That can only mean one thing: It’s time for some fun in the sun. Ski personality Shay Williams and I hit up Breckenridge today. Watch below as we rip some sweet turns, gap some extreme dirt patches, bonk some trees and catch some killer air.
