Back in Action!

Phew! Back to blogging. My computer has been hanging out in the repair shop at the Apple Store for a few weeks. In that time, I’ve been home in Mass, and up to Vermont where I sat on the sidelines for the Mt. Snow Open thanks to my hurt back. Yuck! It was a fun event though, we had nice weather and my family came up to check out the scene, so it was nice to spend time with them. I’m back in Colorado now though; I’ve spent the past couple of days cheering on my mom who is racing in the American Ski Classic in Vail. It’s an annual event where ex-pro racers battle each other for big bucks and bragging rights. Good stuff! Below are a few pics from here and there.

It’s not a mohawk, it’s a…

Yup, there it is, it’s a fricken’ Tonyhawk!! Get it!?
I think it’s safe to say that this is the first Tony Hawk ever. I hope to have someone shoot a really nice portrait of me, mail a print to Tony himself and see if he will sign it for me.

Thanks to Caitlin Burns for the amazing buzz.

The coolest haircut, EVER.

Bowl-Cut-March was one thing, but frankly I’m over it, and I’ve moved on to bigger and better things. I just wanted to let you all know, keep checking back here because when I get my next haircut, it’s going to be groundbreaking.

Seven Days in Big Bear

Turns out, seven days is the perfect amount of time to spend in Big Bear. If we had gone for three, we would have complained, “oh damn, Colorado is so cold, and it sucks, and I want to spend some more time in the sun”. If we had been there for eight, we would have said “dudes, lets go back to Colorado. I’m getting really sun burnt, and my back and knees hurt so bad from hitting these awful jumps that I don’t think I can stand up any more”.

One week, it was just right. It was enough time to ski shirtless and pick up a dark tan, eat 100+ hot dogs, give lots of bowl cuts, party hard, and in my case, and for many others too, cheer for your friends in the competition because we ruined our backs on awfully flat landings.

Not being able to compete didn’t ruin my Bear experience however, I still enjoyed myself to the fullest, and that’s why this trip will always be one to look forward to. The only thing negative about the week was the 14 hour drive back to Colorado with a bad back… at least Utah has cool rocks to look at.

Big Bear, California

Imagine yourself carving long, smooth, awesome turns. You’re wearing a tee-shirt, it’s 70 degrees outside. It’s too hot for a hat, so you sport only goggles on your head. The cool California air blows through your hair as you speed down the hill. A Latino man makes you a delishious enchilada for a fair price at lunch time, and you sit on the sun deck soaking in the rays while beautiful babes from Los Angeles walk past. Well this is what life is like here at the Big Bear Open. We’re here for a week, and man oh man is it going to be fun.

The Snowman Is Done

My roomates all left me alone, so it was a pain trying to decorate him by myself. Frankly, I’m not too happy with the final look, and we’re going to have to get back to him and do some more serious decorating when we’re all back from our various trips, etc…
